This solution below may help fix a wet or water damaged Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE GT-I9505 that results to insert sim card problem.
If the Samsung Galaxy S4 I9505 will not detect any kind of SIM card inserted to it, this solution below shows which particular components may become faulty or damaged.
Problems
Insert SIM error message.
Phonebook not accessible.
Manual Solution
Remove and Reinsert SIM card and check.
Clean SIM card contacts and check.
Check with any other working SIM Card.

Clean SIM socket contacts with the help of a pin and check.
If any pin of SIM Socket is broken replace entire SIM socket.
Re-solder all 6 connections of SIM socket and check.
Now Check SIM Socket Capacitors for continuity with SIM Socket connections and check as illustrated in picture above. Place jumper in case there is no continuity.
Check connection between U501 IC.
